These are just mp3/MPEG/data cd's of all my Christmas music. I made these to make sure I don't lose any. But I found myself putting them on my cd player on random play and listening to them.
And since they each have 150-225 songs on them, I'm not going to list what is on each cd. But I will give a description of what is in each category.
XMAS ALTERNATIVE
This just basically Christmas tunes by alternative music artist. I did throw in some tunes by punk artist if their rendition of a Christmas song wasn't very "punky". I also threw in some stuff that didn't seem to fit any other category.
XMAS BEATLES
This is a collection of Christmas tunes the Beatles did in their solo careers plus some Christmas songs done in a Beatle-esque style.
XMAS BIG BAND AND SWING
Like it says, Christmas tunes done in the big band or swing style. Glenn Miller Orchestra's two cd's, Louis Armstrong's Christmas Through the Years and Ella Fitzgerald's Swinging Christmas along with various tunes including some neo-swing acts are all here.
XMAS BING
Just a whole lot of Christmas tunes by Bing Crosby. He has so many, I had to give him his own category!
XMAS BRASS
Christmas tunes done by brass bands! What's Christmas without some?
XMAS CLASSICAL
Actually, this doesn't have any typical classical music. It's traditional and modern Christmas music done with choirs, orchestras or whatever.
XMAS COMEDY
Humorous songs and stand-up and spoken word bits about Christmas.
XMAS COUNTRY
Christmas tunes done with a twang, including bluegrass stuff.
XMAS DANCE
Basically dance music about Christmas. Some are techno/trance versions of traditional Christmas tune and others are like Donna Summer's "Rosie Christmas" and Cher's version of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)".
XMAS DRAMA
Christmas radio shows.
XMAS GUITARS
Instrumental versions of Christmas tunes done with guitars in various genres, though mostly by rock guitarists. Most of this is taken from the Merry Axe-mas cd's.
XMAS HACK
These are just cheesy and hackney versions of Christmas tunes by the likes of Barry Manilow, Lou Rowls and Barbara Streisand.
XMAS LATINO/CARIBBEAN
Christmas tunes with a latin beat and some done calypso and reggae style.
XMAS LITERATURE
Christmas short stories and books on cd's.
XMAS LIVE
Just various Christmas tunes done in various genres done live.
XMAS MOTOWN
Christmas tunes done by Motown artists
XMAS MUPPETS
Stuff from the Sesame Street Christmas cd, the John Denver and Muppets cd and The Muppet Christmas Carol.
XMAS NAUGHTY
Just comedy bits and songs that featured excessive use of words I don't need by my daughter hearing repeatedly. My favorite on here is "Homo Christmas" by Pansy Division and "I Got a Boner for Christmas" by Nerf Herder.
XMAS NOVELTIES
Christmas tunes that are bit unusual like "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" and Toolbox Christmas.
XMAS OLDIES
Rock and roll Christmas tunes from the '50's and '60's, including Phil Spector's A Christmas Gift for You.
XMAS PUNK
Surprise! Surprise! Christmas tunes done in the punk style.
XMAS R&B AND SOUL
This mostly a catch-all for African-American Christmas music plus Christmas blues tunes.
XMAS ROCK AND POP
Chrismas tunes from rock and pop artists from the '70's to today. I guess pretty soon I'll have to admit my age and make a Xmas '70's and '80's category.
XMAS ROCKABILLY
Just what it says.
XMAS STEAMROLLER
My favorite Christmas tunes by Mannheim Steamroller.
XMAS THREE TENORS
Christmas tunes done by the Three Tenors, separately or with other people. Doesn't have any classical tunes though, just traditional and modern Christmas tunes.
XMAS TRADITIONAL
These are just the type of Christmas tunes that were played around my house by my mom when I was a kid. Mostly swing artists, but ones I didn't feel like putting with my Christmas Swing - people like Dean Martin, Burl Ives, and Tony Bennett.
